Abstract

ABSTRACT

The phenomenon of multilingualism, which refers to the ability to communicate in numerous languages, has considerable significance in our increasingly linked global society and plays a crucial part in tackling worldwide issues, although often being disregarded. The present research investigates many facets of linguistic variety in the context of tackling global difficulties, including the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and other worldwide concerns. The present research adopts a qualitative approach. This study investigates the many experiences, perspectives, and obstacles faced by policymakers, diplomats, and stakeholders involved in the realm of global governance. The study technique includes the implementation of comprehensive interviews and subsequent analysis of the participants' replies. The results indicate that the ability to communicate in several languages encompasses two primary dimensions. On one side, the challenges arise since it might potentially give rise to communication issues and impede the progress of discussions. Conversely, it is worth noting that there are potential beneficial outcomes associated with this phenomenon. These include the facilitation of innovative ideas, the introduction of diverse perspectives, and the promotion of inclusion while solving global challenges. The findings of this research underscore the need for governments and organizations to recognize and address the challenges associated with language arising from multilingualism, while also capitalizing on its potential benefits.
