Abstract

The study highlights the determinants that are responsible for the students’ dropout at primary level. The objectives of the study were; 1) To identify the factor of students’ dropout at primary level 2) To analyze the determinants of students’ dropout at primary level 3) To suggest measures for the eradication of students’ dropout at primary level. The researchers devised the quantitative research method that was descriptive in nature. All the primary school teachers in district Vehari comprised the population of the study. The respondents (300) were selected through simple random sampling technique. The respondents are bifurcated on the basis of male and female primary school teachers.  Questionnaire was used as research tool; the questionnaire was administered to the sample of the study. The researchers used Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) for the analysis of collected raw data from the respondents. The statistical techniques of variance mean score and t-test. The results of the study show that family tension, child labor and low family income are major cause of students’ dropout. The study may recommend that government efforts in eliminating the child labor and low parental income may lessen the students’ dropout rate at primary level. It may also be recommended that parents get awareness about gender disparity.
