Comparison of Public and Private Urdu EFL Learners’ Preferred Styles of Learning English

The study focused the preferred learning styles of learning English among public and private Urdu EFL learners at secondary level. The major objectives of the study to investigate the preferred styles of learning English and to make a comparison of public and private Urdu EFL learners. The study was based on quantitative method that was descriptive in nature. The population of the study comprised all the public and private secondary school students in Pakpattan District. A questionnaire of learning styles was adopted for the study. The adopted questionnaire was highly reliable and frequently used in EFL studies. Questionnaire was administered to the sample of the study. The collected data were analyzed through most frequently used statistical techniques of mean score and standard deviation. Towards learning styles the finding of the study shows that the private secondary school students believe that they have the ability of remembering anything if they hear. The study concluded that there is a little difference between the language learning styles of public and private school students both like auditory and visual learning style more as compare to tactile learning style. It is also concluded that private secondary school students learn English by lecture method and they remember things through listening. The study may recommend that teachers may identify the learning styles of students toward learning English and then they should teach them accordingly.
